PROGRAMS OF STUDY
MASTER OF DIVINITY PROGRAM (M. Div.)


Purpose of Program
A three-year program, the Master of Divinity, is designed to train persons to serve as pastors, chaplains, missionaries, evangelists, campus pastors and many other ministerial roles. The program is intended to deepen comprehensions of The Bible including the historical, systematical and practical theology. Students learn also counseling and communication skills as the program builds on their spiritual foundation. In order to qualify for the degree 104 credit hours must be earned with a grade point average of 2.00 or better; included in the 104 hours, all of the required hours must be met.

A student must be present at the Commencement exercise in order to receive the degree.

 
Residency Requirements
Advanced standing may be granted to qualified students transferring into the M. Div. program. To fulfill the minimum requirements for residency, each transfer student must complete the last 30 hours of his program at American Theological Seminary. These hours must include:
  1. Senior Homiletics Practice (two semesters)
  2. Westminster Confession of Faith (two semesters)
  3. At lest two of the following Greek courses:
    a. Exegesis of Gospels (221)
    b. Exegesis of Epistles (222)
    c. New Testament History I or II (219 or 220)
    d. New Testament exegetical electives (2 hours)
  4. At least two of the following Hebrew courses:
    a. Old Testament Prophets I or II (118 or 119)
    b. Hebrew Exegesis (120)
    c. Old Testament Poetical Books (121)
    d. Old Testament exegetical electives (2 hours)
  5. At lest two of the four required courses in Systematic Theology (311, 312, 313, 314)
